These "Cross-Action" self-closing tweezers are designed to require pressure only to pick up and release small components and allows the user to concentrate on transport and precision placement without the additional muscle stress and tremors required to simultaneously keep pressure on the part you are holding. They make manual SMT part placement of discreet parts and small ICs much easier and precise with less stress and dropping of parts.

These larger, longer tweezers are also useful in through-hole assembly and can be used to hold components in plce while the board is flipped over to solder. We use them extensively in our lab for holding headers, connectors and sockets in place whiles tacking them down or soldering them.
