2W Wide Input Voltage IGBT Gate Drive Module
The IDRIVE1 is designed to provide simple, economical, drop-in gate drive module for a wide range of IGBTs.
The IDRIVE1 is fully isolated allowing use of the module in the low or high voltage leg of inverters. It is isolated to 1200VDC with a fully isolated bipolar power supply and optical isolation of all drive signals and diagnostics. An optically isolated feedback signal is provided to indicate when an over current condition is sensed.
The IDRIVE1 features a 2W DC-DC converter with a wide input voltage range (18-36V) allowing large variations from the nominal 24VDC input. The default configuration provides +/- 12 V bipolar drive for quick device turn-off with 5 Ohm current limiting resistors for +/- 2.4A peak drive current. The IDRIVE1 provides true dynamic turn-on and turnoff though a bi-polar power supply and drive. It does not substitute a negative drive with Miller clamping.
Based on the ST Micro TD350 gate drive controller, the IDRIVE1 provides programmable turn-on and turn-off delay times. A 2-Level turn-off mode is also available to control excessive over voltage at turn-off in case of over current or short circuit conditions. It also provides IGBT over-current protection through sensing de-saturation of the device while driven. An external transistor pair increases the TD350 drive current from +/- 1A to +/- 4A peak.
The module outputs are designed to align with most TO-247 devices to simplify layout and wiring. Module inputs and outputs are on opposite sides of the board for maximum isolation and the isolation boundary is clearly marked in the board silkscreen. Standard 0.100" headers are provided for IO connections. Standard configuration is bottom side headers for soldering or plugging directly onto your inverter board. Top-side headers are available for discrete wiring to devices.
