Digital IR Thermometer 0-350 C
I can't tell you how useful one of these IR thermometers is in the lab. We use it constantly when testing boards and new designs to detect and measure components that are overheating. It has saved many finger burns and blisters running around a board touching parts that are on the edge of "letting the smoke out." The laser designator allows you to precisely pinpoint and measure the temperature of even small components. The measurement area is approximately 1/8 the distance between the thermometer and measurement point.
It is also very useful in setting up and calibrating reflow ovens, Hot air stations, hot plates and other soldering tools.
This unit differs from the normal IR thermometer you find in the big box stores like harbor freight. If you have ever taken one of those and tried to measure the temperature of something white, shiny or reflective you know it can give a reading that is very far from accurate. That is because they cannot compensate for differences in materials emmisivity. This unit allows you to set it for the emmisivity of the material you are measuring over a range of 0.20-0.99
The temperature range is -10-350 degrees centigrade. More than adequate for measuring reflow equipment.
